Expansion of a Commercial Vehicle Service Operation – Autohaus Allgäu in Kempten

In the northern industrial area of Kempten, Allgäu, a comprehensive expansion of the KreuterMedeleSchäfer Group’s well-established commercial vehicle service operation, which has been in operation for over twenty years, is being carried out.
The project will be implemented in two construction phases to ensure the smooth and continuous operation of the business.

Construction Phase 1 – Expansion with Electric Bus Workshop & Second Head Building

The first construction phase includes the addition of a new workshop hall for electric buses, complete with a portal wash station, testing lanes, and a roof-mounted work platform. Additionally, a second head building will be constructed, which will house the customer area and provide valuable space for the growing operation. This includes new office spaces, a large changing room, and a well-equipped social area.
As a highlight of the new building, a rooftop terrace will be created for the employees, offering a stunning view of the Allgäu Alps. The terrace will feature a glass roof with shading options and a small outdoor kitchen with a barbecue area, providing a unique space for relaxation and socializing.

The facade of the extension seamlessly integrates with the existing hall by using visually matching, light grey façade panels. In the area of the new head building, horizontal anthracite-colored window bands give the façade a modern appearance. An architectural accent is also set by the anthracite-colored rooftop terrace, which is framed by a continuous roof band, giving it a solid, sculptural appearance.

Construction Phase 2 – Expansion of the Spare Parts Warehouse & Addition of Van Delivery Area

Upon completion of the first construction phase, preparations for further renovation work in the area of the old head building can begin. A part of the administration will move into the newly created office section, and the spare parts warehouse will be temporarily relocated to a section of the new workshop.
Subsequently, the warehouse space can be expanded through gutting and an additional extension, all while the operation continues. Large horizontal window bands will flood the warehouse with natural light, providing a significant improvement in both the work quality and well-being of the employees.
Additionally, the office spaces will be expanded, and a further extension will create a delivery hall for used vans. Designed in anthracite, the delivery hall will intentionally contrast with the rooftop terrace, creating a visual counterpoint at the opposite end of the building.

Throughout the entire construction phase, the site and its setup will be organized in such a way that the necessary bypass for trucks and buses required for operations will remain fully accessible.
