ENSEMBLE GOLDENER STERN 2015

Two new buildings on the site of the former Goldener Stern inn in Königsbrunn between Landsberg am Lech and Augsburg form an ensemble and comprise 18 new residential units and one commercial unit.

From an urban planning point of view, the central location required a design that – in addition to the claim to create high residential quality – was to be characterized by a special design quality in its external appearance and coherently take up the conditions of the urban environment.

The result is a building arrangement that forms a striking prelude to Königsbrunn’s city center and takes advantage of the site’s advantageous southwest orientation. The ensemble thereby draws a harmonious transition from the urban building style at the traffic circle to the flatter development in the west. The directly adjacent green strip visually extends the gardens in the southern terrain and at the same time forms a boundary to Römerallee.

The loggias on the houses, which dominate the design, structure the facades and emphasize the high-quality character of the ensemble. Numerous details, from the railings to the sensitive lines in the facade, make quality tangible in the urban image. The asymmetrical gable roof and its design support the advantages of the energy concept. The high-quality solid construction using selected building materials rounds off the concept. In order to promote the sustainability of the project, preference is given to regional craftsmen.
