Eichenau, Germany 2015

Over the L-shaped cubature of the building, which divides it into two different areas of use, a monolithic skin of wood is drawn over the larger one, extending from the edge of the terrain to the peak of the roof. The living area thus becomes a strong unit. This is achieved, among other things, by clever architectural details, such as the continuous vertical wooden battening without interruption by a gutter or the like.

The extension, which included a guest and home office area, visually pushes out of the envelope and simultaneously encloses the terrace area. This, as well as the generous glazing, is additionally shaded by a kind of roof overhang, which also develops from the monolithic shell. This is executed pergola-like from the wooden lathing of the roof cladding.
