DYNAMIC FAÇADE AS A PERGOLA ENTRANCE: SOCIAL COHESION AS AN EVERYDAY ARCHITECTURAL EXPERIENCE

If social housing is usually about pressing issues such as optimal use of building land or financing, a basic concern was to create living space that reflects the idea of social cohesion both in terms of urban development and makes it possible for the house community to experience it architecturally.

The central feature of the design is the facade and the twisted development of the offset building sections. The façade thus forms an arcade that is highly inviting in its dynamic, playful formal language. The alternation of closed and open balustrade passages as well as an elegant black enclosure of the entire building emphasize the lightness of the design. The twisted and interlocking pergola slabs create lively perspectives, far from monotony. The pergola with its extracted zones and diverse furnishings invites active use, everyday life is brought onto the pergola. Seating elements and benches, plant troughs, green areas and cut-outs, storage spaces and storage facilities are loosely distributed directly in front of the front doors. The necessary vertical development also becomes a place for meeting and community.
