SOLLNER TERRACES

Between old trees and in the middle of the historically grown environment of a residential area at the southern edge of Munich the architecture of the Sollner Terrassen fits in. The monolithic building faces the street with a gable roof. At the rear, the residential building with its continuous gray plaster facade forms a building block, which, with its stepping down into the garden, forms generous terraces and ends with a modern penthouse at the top.

THE DESIGN TRANSFERS THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE GABLE ROOF HOUSE INTO A MODERN ARCHITECTURAL LANGUAGE.

The guiding idea is to use the qualities of terracing to create extraordinary outdoor spaces. At the same time, the terraces and balconies interact with large floor-to-ceiling windows to dynamize and open up the entire façade. Contrasting with the dark basic tonality, dark gold railings, dividing elements and window surrounds set accents.

The continuous gray plaster counteracts the process of mossing on the white plaster facades. The design of the roof as a largely homogeneous surface facilitates cleaning from the foliage of the surrounding old trees and thus reduces maintenance costs.
