Samsung Expo Pavilion

The World Expo in Yeosu, Korea, 2012 is themed “Living Ocean, Living Coast”. For the exhibitor Samsung an expo pavilion was designed and built, which is a multifunctional building that forms a thematic exhibition, spatial installation and a staging space and leads different spatial dramaturgy.

This complex building was realized in only 12 months of construction time. Not only the parametric facade with over 2000 individual panels was a challenge, but also the complex supporting structure.

The central stage, with an area-wide digital spatial display that interacts with the hourly acrobatic show, is lined with an endless ramp that functions as a grandstand.

At the same time, the all-around ramp serves as an exhibition space, played with various themed exhibits, on which visitors can stroll.

The visitor experience is complemented by themed workshops and events, as well as a food court. As the most popular pavilion at Expo 2012, the pavilion mastered the logistics of 500 visitors per half hour.
